2015 Savannah Children's Book Festival


Live Oak Public Libraries and the City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs will present the 12th annual Savannah Children’s Book Festival on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Forsyth Park. (Download the flyer).This year’s lineup features internationally celebrated author Kate DiCamillo, who is serving as the U.S. National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature for 2014–2015. DiCamillo is the author of two bestselling books that have been adapted as major motion pictures, Because of Winn Dixie and the Newbery Medal winner The Tale of Despereaux.

Documentary Film Screening: Acadian Brown Cotton


Join the Fiber Guild of the Savannahs for a special screening of “Coton Jaune, Acadian Brown Cotton: A Cajun Love Story,” a documentary film about the history, tradition and artistry of handspun and handwoven Acadian brown cotton blankets, and the Cajun women who made them. Meet Sharon Gordon Donnan, one of the film’s directors, who will be leading the post-screening discussion, and sharing her artifacts and stories
