Bruce Degen is a returning author and illustrator to the Savannah Children’s Book Festival. He has written and illustrated numerous award-winning children’s books, among them “Shirley’s Wonderful Baby,” “Daddy Is a Doodlebug” and “Jamberry.”

Degen is the illustrator of the highly acclaimed “The Magic School Bus” series by Joanna Cole. “The Magic School Bus” series teaches scientific concepts to children as character Ms. Frizzle takes students on magical bus rides into the solar system, under the Earth, and through the human body.

Degen also illustrated the “Jesse Bear” books by Nancy White Carlstrom and the Caldecott-winning “Commander Toad” series by Jane Yolen.

Degen has also worked as a painter, print maker, and teacher, and has even painted scenery for the opera. He currently lives in Connecticut.
