Numeroff is the award-winning author of the “If You Give a …” series that was honored at the White House for the Laura Bush Celebrates American Authors event. “Publisher’s Weekly” calls “If You Give a …” a “rollicking romp.” Numeroff is the author of many books for young readers including “The Chicken Sisters” and “Laura Numeroff's 10-Step Guide to Living with Your Monster”. Her books have been featured on Oprah’s Kid’s Reading List.

Numeroff was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in communications. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue writing for television, but went back to her first love of children’s book writing. Numeroff says her job is a dream come true.

The author is excited to come to the festival. “The people are great,” she said. “I love the city. I love to go the South on book tours. The people are so warm and welcoming. To have an emphasis on literacy is incredible. I love events for parents and children to share.”

At the festival, she will read three to five of her books and answer questions after the reading.

After “If You Give a Dog a Donut” is released in 2010, Numeroff will write one more “If You Give…” book to complete the series.

Her advice for young authors is, “Never give up.”
