Adopt a Book
Live Oak Public Libraries’ Adopt-a-Book program is a wonderful way to
honor or remember someone special in your life. With your donation of $25, the library will buy a book of your choice, with a book plate indicating both donor and honoree.
You can designate the kind of book. For example, if you’d like to make a lasting
memorial to a cherished member of the family who loved to garden, we can buy
a gardening book for the branch she used the most. Or if you want to honor the
birth of child, we will buy a children’s book. And every time the book is used, your
donation and the person it honors will be remembered – a wonderful way of
insuring a lasting commemoration of a special person or occasion.
With each $25 contribution, a gift plate will be placed in a book in honor or
memory of the person you designate. A special note will also be placed in the online catalog record.
To donate, just download or print an Adopt a Book Form and fill it out. Mail or fax it.
You can also donate online. For online donations, we’ll contact you via e-mail about type of gift, bookplate information, etc.
A Gift Card will be sent to the person being honored; an Acknowledgment Card will be sent to the family of the deceased.
The John V. Luck Memorial Collection is a special part of the Adopt-A-Book
program, which buys current popular science books that encourage people to
read and learn more about science. These books are placed in all of the
library’s branches, in honor of the late John V. Luck of Savannah. Be sure to
note on your Adopt-A-Book form that your donation is for this collection.
If you wish to make a larger donation for either general collection development or
for a special purpose, library staff will be happy to discuss your goals and
priorities. Donations are always needed and welcome, and can be used to build
library collections in any designated branch. Call the Live Oak Public Libraries
Foundation at 912-652-3605.
