Local author and World War II veteran Paul Grassey will discuss his book, “It’s Character That Counts”. Grassey uses his memoir to spotlight individuals from his school days and military service who exemplify the behaviors essenal to posive character development and success in life.
Book Clubs @ Your Library
The zombie apocalypse is upon us! Enjoy zombie fun, ghoulish treats, and a massive zombie battle for survival. Bring old clothes to rip and help complete your zombie transformation. Personal Nerf guns requested, but not required. Ages 12 to 18.
Book Trailer Contest
The annual Book Trailer Contest is underway at Live Oak Public Libraries as part of the Savannah Children’s Book Festival. The contest challenges videographers and filmmakers of all levels and ages to create an original book trailer, up to 30 seconds long. Entry deadline has been extended to Monday, Oct. 21.

Live Oak Public Libraries presents the TREE Loft at the Bull Street Library, a dynamic interactive space showcasing our communities.
The inaugural exhibit "Savannah's Jewish Community: A Legacy for Our Future," opens to the public Tues., Sept. 16 in partnership with MorningStar Arts.
Because of Them, We Can
Based on the “Because of Them, We Can” series of photos by Eunique Jones
created to “empower and excite young people about their history
and their future in a creative and yet relatable way.”
Children ages 6 to 10 will hear a story and learn how they
can carry on the legacies of our African‐American heroes.
Young Writers Contest
Winners will be announced on Fri., Oct. 24, 2014, on our website, www.liveoakpl.org, and will be notified by phone, mail or email. The library will host a reception for the winners, their families and writing teachers on Wed., Nov. 5, at the City of Savannah’s Dept. of Cultural Affairs located at 9 W. Henry St.
