Summer Reading Program Kickoff Party
Superheroes, assemble! Are you prepared to battle your nemesis? The library can help! Make some vital costume accessories (but no capes!), hone your skills and spidey senses, meet some of our local heroes, and register for Live Oak Public Libraries' Summer Reading Program at our annual drop-in party. Come in costume or as your mild-mannered alter ego. All Ages.
Story Ship of Heroes
With a wonderful array of magic, music, animation and puppetry, Sean Driscoll draws the audience into live interactive comedy theater and innovative children's storytelling. Ages 5 and up.
Storyteller J'miah Nabawi
Storyteller J'miah Nabawi will lead audiences through spontaneous and interactive superhero storytelling ensembles. Superhero Supreme! Be prepared for lots of fun and participation! You might be asked to play a rhythm instrument or be a particular character. Ages 5 and up.
Hercules and the Heroes
Follow Greece's greatest hero, Hercules, on his many adventures as he battles mythological creatures and warriors. Through mask work, poetry and swordplay, the Hampstead Stage Company will guide the audience on a tour of the early stories of Greece. Ages 5 and up.
The Magic Man
The Magic Man (a.k.a. Bill Packard) provides a fun and memorable show featuring his award winning magic routines, music, comedy and audience participation. Ages 5 and up.
Super Skeeter Puppet Show
Oh, no! All the storybook characters are in disarray. But fear not! For whatever the trouble, whether real or imagined, Super Skeeter is here to save the day! Disclaimer: Curious Moon Puppets is not responsible if Skeeter makes things worse. Evy Wright of Curious Moon Puppets presents Super Skeeter followed by a sneak peek behind the curtains to see how a puppet show is staged. Ages 3-10.

Drawing Comics with Tracy Yardley!
Through visual presentation and fun drawing exercises, cartoonist Tracy Yardley! will give tips on how to develop the skills you’ll need to make your own comics. You’ll learn about the benefits of art school, the ins and outs of telling a story with pictures and words, how to construct a cool comic book cover, the value of drawing from observation and lots of practice. Tracy has worked with Archie Comics for 10 years on the popular “Sonic the Hedgehog” comic book series. He’s also done manga style graphic novels for Tokyopop and is currently doing super heroic stories featuring “Galaxy Man and Cosmic Girl” featured in the new hit comic book “Hero Cats of Stellar City” from Action Lab Entertainment.
